Foreign Minister Stubb and Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt propose establishment of the European Institute of Peace

Foreign Minister Alexander Stubb and Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt published an initiative supporting EU peace mediation activities in Stockholm on 3 September. The ministers propose that the European Union establish the European Institute of Peace, an independent body focusing on conflict resolution and peace mediation. It is the wish of Foreign Minister Stubb and Foreign Minister Bildt that the European Institute of Peace would make the EU a peace promotion pioneer.

Photo: Eero KuosmanenThe MENA area, i.e. the area of the Middle East and North Africa, has traditionally been an important export target for Finland.In comparison to many of our competitor countries, however, export collapsed last year. The challenges posed by this situation were taken up at the MENA and I Seminar organized by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs on 31 August, where the business opportunities available to Finnish companies in the area were discussed.
